I had a terrible experience at Renaissance Yu Garden, I would strongly suggest to delist this hotel or close for a long time until it represents the Marriott standards. This review is coming from an Ambassador member with lifetime platinum status. My suggestion: stay away from it - there are plenty of decent ones in the area. Would never stay here any more - added to my black list. However, when I tried a new reservation in this hotel, all room options came up including "Bund River View Club King", "Bund River View Studio", "Bund River View Suite"! Very dishonest staffs. The staffs (including the manager on duty) technically lied on my face telling me all rooms were sold out for the day. (3) Your platinum status will *NOT* be honored and do not expect a room upgrade even when there were plenty of rooms. (2) Sound proofing sucks, you could hear people talking on the phone or watching TV next to your door clearly. This is probably the worst Marriott hotel in Shanghai downtown area - shame on you to keep this s***hole under your brand. Per my request, the front desk showed me 3 difference rooms at different floors, all had the same issue. The air conditioning lacks proper maintenance and the room was humid with mold smell.
